The Collegiate Running Association has announced the 2026 Collegiate Mountain Running National Championships will take place on June 7th at the Sunapee Scramble, hosted by Marathon Sports in Sunapee New Hampshire.

For the seventh year, prize money will be distributed to the top college finishers in the men's and women's collegiate championships. This marks the first time the Sunapee Scramble will host the Collegiate National Championships and host the U.S. and Collegiate National Championships concurrently. Along with a $3,000 prize purse, top collegians will take home JAMBAR, the official nutrition bar of the Collegiate Running Association.

In the fast-growing sport of mountain running this tough 9.3 miles race will force participants to climb over 3,300 feet. On the first lap you will head 2.3 miles up the service road then trail with 1500 feet of ascent to the summit of Mount Sunapee. The descent will be a fast 1.75 miles of descent.

The second lap you will race up Mount Sunapee 3.5 Miles with about 1800 Feet of Elevation Gain. The second lap will start at the base of the mountain, and then follow a service road until you join the Newbury Trail. You will then have the same 1.75 mile speedy descent down Mount Sunapee back to the Base Lodge.

“We are excited to head back to New Hampshire for the mountain running championships,” said Steve Taylor, co-founder of the Collegiate Running Association. “New Hampshire is one of the premier mountain and trail running destinations in the U.S., and SIX03 Endurance’s Sunapee Scramble delivers a great, destination event with a course that will challenge athletes at every level. I’m sure participants will be truly inspired by the course, the people and the scenery. To be able to partner with Marathon Sports for the Sunapee Scramble is a win-win for the athletes, community, and the sport of mountain running. Prize money reserved specifically for college students, plus prize money for the top U.S. runners, coupled with the opportunity to qualify for the USA Mountain Running Team, all within the same event is exciting.”
